Patrick Hegde
Patrick Hegde is a Research Associate and
Software Developer at NovaSpeech, where he has been working since September 2006. At NovaSpeech, Patrick assists
with all aspects of the research related to the hybrid synthesis
project. He administers our central relational speech database,
writes code to support acoustic and linguistic analysis, and
participates in synthesis rule development. Patrick also contributes to
other NovaSpeech activities, including the development of technical
documentation, public relations, and Web site development.
Prior to joining NovaSpeech, Patrick was
a student at Cornell University, where, in May 2006, he earned a B.A. in
History and Linguistics with distinction in all subjects. At Cornell, he gained a background in phonetics and
phonology, with coursework including an intensive upper-level class in
phonetics taught by Sue Hertz.
Patrick also has an interest in language
acquisition and applied linguistics. While a student at Cornell, he
completed courses in First and Second Language Acquisition. In 2006, he worked as Assistant Coordinator for the summer
program of Cornell’s International Teaching Assistant Development
Program, which supports the development of English language proficiency
among international TAs.
